Job Overview:
As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software. Your role will involve troubleshooting issues, maintaining IT infrastructure, and ensuring the smooth operation of technology within the organization. You will also be involved in implementing new technologies, managing networks, and providing training to staff members as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. Troubleshoot problems and resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently.
IT Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Ensure the integrity and security of data, server resources, systems, and services.
System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software, as well as configure hardware and peripheral devices. Set up new user accounts and profiles and ensure proper functionality.
Network Management: Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems. Establish and maintain network users, user environment, directories, and security. Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.
Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems, networks, and data. Regularly update antivirus software and ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of data. Perform regular backups and conduct periodic tests to ensure data recovery in the event of system failures.
Training and Documentation: Provide training to staff members on IT systems, software, and procedures. Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides, technical manuals, and troubleshooting procedures.
Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors and service providers to procure IT equipment, software licenses, and technical support services. Evaluate vendor products and services and make recommendations for purchase or renewal.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as an IT Specialist or similar role.
Proficiency in computer hardware, software, and networking technologies.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of security protocols and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) are a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) frameworks.
Familiarity with IT asset management and inventory systems.
